Electrochemical Machining – ECM

  • ECM allows  3-Dimensional complex shapes and features to be machined in metals that would not be economical or even possible in some cases by another process
  • The process is a non-contact process and any electrically conductive material irrespective of hardness can be machined
  • A high level of accuracy  and surface finish quality can be achieved
  • ECM allows product designers to make products more compact due to the advantages of the process
  • CDAMC can support companies in exploring the benefits that ECM would bring them if they were to use it in their manufacturing process

Abrasive Flow Machining – AFM

  • AFM is a process that uses a paste or putty which contains abrasive particles. The process can be used to polish and deburr  components by passing the paste under pressure over the area that requires machining
  • AFM can be used to deburr, radius  and polish edges where two internal drillings come together
  • This process can be used on components with micro holes and also on larger components with drilled through holes

Electro Discharge Machining – EDM

  • EDM is a process that can be used to machine micro-holes in  any electrically conductive material. Holes of 50 micron diameter in 1 mm thick sections are achievable.

The above is an example of Non-traditional processes where CDAMC has experience. CDAMC can support companies who wish to explore the possibility of using alternative processes to what they currently use or are proposing to use. Customer's engineers can work with CDAMC to fully explore the pros and cons of using an alternative process, covering aspects such as accuracy, quality, process robustness, stability and costs.

Mentoring & Training

  • CDAMC offers mentoring services to their clients, this can range from working with process engineers on implementing procedures , executing projects using recognised engineering tools or supporting start-up companies. CDAMC offers training specific to the use of non-traditional manufacturing processes

Grant Aid

  • CDAMC has experience in successfully securing grant funding for their clients
  • Companies involved in R&D activities may be eligible for grant aid and CDAMC can support companies in  securing funding
